Recognition for Interactive Driving Systems Research Director
30th June 2011
Over the last few months our Research Director, Dr Will Murray, has received personal recognition in several ways.

Will was recently awarded a Fellowship of the Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers for his continued work with the Association since 1995. During that time he has helped to promote the Association, has spoken at many of its events and has engaged its membership to participate in on-going research programs.

Will was appointed as a Visiting Fellow at Loughborough University during 2010 to focus on helping develop research, PhD and publication based outcomes with the Transport Studies Group. One such PhD has already been completed, 3 further PhDs are on-going and several peer-reviewed papers have already been published, examples of which can be seen on our Research page.

Will also continues to maintain strong links with our Local University of Huddersfield and the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety - Queensland.

During 2011 Will was asked to upgrade to Chartered Fellowship status by the Institute of Logistics. He has been involved with the Institute in many ways since 1998, including using its membership database and publications as key elements of his own PhD research which significantly helped to improve skill levels and education in the sector. As part of the Fellowship, Will is now aiming to engage with the Institute to further integrate organisational safety issues into its course curriculums, research, outreach and other programs.

Will, who is also a Trustee of the road safety charity Brake and a member of the Advisory Committee of Roadsafe said: 'It's great to receive such personal recognition, but the reality is that it reflects the research led approach taken by Interactive Driving Systems, in collaboration with its global channel partners and clients. This focus on the importance of turning research into good practice, and exploring ways to turn practice into good research, has given me the freedom and creative environment to be involved in such a diverse range of programs'
