Road Safety Week 23-29 Nov: IDS shares tools and resources to leave a sustainable legacy
2nd December 2015

The Road Safety Week theme this year was 'Drive less live more', with organisers Brake the road safety charity asking people and organisations to consider how they use roads, if they could ditch some vehicle mileage, and instead walk, cycle or use public transport as much as possible.

At Interactive Driving Systems, where sustainable mobility is one of our key goals in helping reduce collisions and costs, we promoted Road Safety Week widely for Brake. We also made available the Travel Planning element of our fleet risk management gap analysis tool in the Road Safety Week Action Pack, which Brake shared with almost 4,000 organisations.

To sustain and maximise the legacy from Road Safety Week, we encourage you to take the ten minutes required to use the Travel Planning questionnaire, available via the Action Pack at: www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk or by contacting us directly.

At Interactive Driving Systems, we have also committed to sustaining the 'Drive less live more' legacy from Road Safety Week in several other ways:

  • Helping raise funds for Brake during 2016, with Research Director Dr Will Murray cycling London to Paris in July 2016, which you can support via:

  • Sharing our own Safe Travel Policy:

  • Giving access to our communication resources on topics including 'Jet lag and road safety', 'Reducing slow speed collisions', 'Avoiding damage while parked collisions' and 'Reducing road risks during major events'. These can be found at:

Ellie Pearson, Professional Engagement Manager at Brake, says: "Brake is incredibly grateful to Interactive Driving Systems for its ongoing support in promoting road safety and sustainability, both during Road Safety Week and beyond. We wish Dr Will Murray all the best for his London to Paris bike ride, and are incredibly grateful to anyone who is able to sponsor him; all funds raised from the bike ride will help us continue our life-saving work preventing road deaths, and supporting people affected by road crashes."
